Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply when you use Care Companion, whether you're a family arranging care, a family member with visibility into it, or a self-employed carer using the platform to manage your clients.
Who these terms are between
These terms are between you and Salford Home Care, of [registered business address — to be added] ("Care Companion", "we", "us"), and apply from the moment you create an account. By using Care Companion, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. Last updated: 19 July 2026.
What Care Companion is
Care Companion is a coordination platform. It helps families arranging private care and self-employed carers organise care plans, scheduling, visit logs, timesheets, and invoicing in one place. Care Companion is not a care agency, is not a healthcare provider, and does not itself provide, arrange, supervise, or guarantee any care. Carers using the platform are independent, self-employed individuals — not employees, workers, or agents of Care Companion — who set their own rates, hours, and terms directly with each family. Any agreement about the care itself is between the family and the carer; Care Companion is not a party to it.
Creating an account and circles
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and setting up a circle. A family_admin is responsible for the accuracy of the information they enter about a service user, including health and care plan information, and for deciding who else — family members and carers — is invited into that circle. Join codes and invite links are a way of connecting to a specific circle; they don't create membership on their own — a family_admin has to approve each new join request (except where an invite link already specifies the role, which the invited person then confirms directly).
Family responsibilities
If you're a family_admin or family member, you're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide about the service user, and for making sure care plan information is kept up to date, since carers rely on it to provide safe care. You're responsible for the arrangement you make directly with any carer, including their rate, hours, and any cancellation terms — Care Companion only helps you record and coordinate that arrangement.
Carer responsibilities
If you're a carer, you're responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, and business affairs as a self-employed individual; for holding a valid, current enhanced DBS check and appropriate insurance if you choose to represent that you do; for the accuracy of the credentials, qualifications, and rates you enter; and for meeting your own professional and legal obligations when providing care to a family. Care Companion doesn't employ you, vet your work, or guarantee you clients.
Confidentiality (carers)
As a carer, you agree to keep all information about a client confidential, and not to share a client's personal or care information with anyone outside that client's circle — except where necessary to respond to a genuine medical emergency, to prevent harm to the client or someone else, or to comply with a legal or safeguarding obligation. You'll be asked to confirm this specifically before you can access any client's information, separately from agreeing to these terms generally.
The Find a Local Carer directory
If you choose to list yourself in the public Find a Local Carer directory, you're representing that the DBS and insurance information you've provided is accurate and current. We show only the eligibility status derived from what you enter — an up-to-date DBS check and current insurance on file — not an independent verification by us. Families using the directory are responsible for satisfying themselves of a carer's suitability before agreeing to any care arrangement; Care Companion doesn't recommend, endorse, or vouch for any carer listed.
Fees
Care Companion is currently free to use. We may introduce paid plans in future, as described on our pricing page — if we do, we'll tell you clearly what's included and what it costs before you're charged anything, and using any paid feature will be optional, not required to keep using the free features you already have.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Care Companion to enter false information, to access or attempt to access a circle you're not a genuine member of, to misuse join codes or invite links, or to use the service for anything unlawful. We can suspend or remove access for accounts that breach these terms.
Intellectual property
Care Companion — the software, design, and branding — belongs to us. The information you enter about a service user's care remains yours; we don't claim ownership of it, and we use it only to provide the service back to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers and liability
Care Companion is provided "as is". We aim to keep it available and accurate, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Because we don't provide, supervise, or guarantee any care arrangement itself, we're not liable for the quality, safety, or outcome of care provided by any carer, or for disputes between a family and a carer — those are matters between the two of you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Ending your account
You can stop using Care Companion at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms, or where we reasonably believe it's necessary to protect the security of the service or other users. Ending an account doesn't remove a carer's own timesheet, invoice, and contract records, kept for their own accounting purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a significant change, we'll aim to let account holders know directly. Continuing to use Care Companion after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
